The Chin man named Cung Za Lian who had been recognized refugee by UNHCR; ref no: 791-09C17373 was hit by a car at the night of 27th Feb, 2010 on the road between Jalan Lokyew where many of refugees are settled in Malaysia. It was said that his body was taken to the hospital after the incident by the police not by his mates. Later on at that night, he was passed away in that hospital. The access was come up very late when CRC (Chin Refugee Community) was informed by the police. The detail of his whereabouts was hardly known as it was not informed well by his co-mates. According to the community information, he was from Tlangpi Village, nearly 30 miles away from Thantlang Town, Chin State and said 28th year was buried on 3rd of March, 2010 at Seremban cemetery by the leading of the community. Young enough though it was, the fate had been totally gone in Malaysia like hundreds of people had gone far.
In a bid to the collection of the reachable information upon the reported data in CRC office, located in Jalan Imbi, Malaysia, five of recognized refugees had been dead in the car accident occurred in different places from June, 2009 to recently and three had been hospitalized on account of the same incident from suffering broken legs, hands and other parts of the body which is believed to have caused them unable to work for the living and family any longer. In contact with these accidents, the serious investigation over the incidents and traffic awareness from the local authority is never found out until now. Worse, any acts of compensation by the committed , though found the incident in public eyes, never come out which makes a double stressful for the refugees.
In Malaysia, there are ample of incidents are likely able to be reached out by the refugee community as well as cases of detainees (how many they are in the detention center). No matter what and how happen among the Chin community body, it is always and all times endeavored to reach out and help esp, those of in need for help regardless of emergency cases and UNHCR registration. Unlike before, self-awareness, carefulness and community unity and information is far more important for those are of refugee status in Malaysia. Recognition of UNHCR should not be taken for granted for all the guarantees for life.
As is the big needs like the education of how to live and behave, health education and local language skill are basically essential for more than half of refugees in Malaysia, for that reason international awareness is on top of the must-do lists but it is relatively still seen very weak, though. For many years, Myanmar exiled-news agencies lack of expression about how lives of refugees going through in Malaysia. However, there must be radical reasons behind the screen which is seemed to be intentionally fallen short even though we are from the same country with the same reason.
